Financial Aid

Federal Loan Cancellation

On August 24, 2022, the Biden administration announced the cancellation of federal student and parent loans for millions of borrowers. The current repayment pause for federally-held loans was also extended until December 31, 2022.

Types of Financial Aid

  • Federal & State Grants
  • Scholarships
    • Davidson-Davie Foundation scholarships are provided through the generosity of private donors or organizations.
  • Student Loans
    • Direct Student loans, Parent Plus Loans or Private loans can be used at Davidson-Davie. Remember these funds must be repaid with interest.
  • Federal Work Study
    • An opportunity for eligible students to gain professional level work experience.

Financial Aid Application Checklist

  • Apply for Admission
    • Submit a Davidson-Davie general application for admission so the College has your information.
  • Complete the FAFSA
    • Use federal tax returns from the prior tax year so Davidson-Davie has your financial eligibility information. If you didn’t file a tax return or had other sources of income, you’ll need to collect your information about the untaxed income. This may include such as Social Security benefits, AFDC benefits, child support, etc.
    • Be sure to list Davidson-Davie Community College in the college section of the FAFSA.  Davidson-Davie’s Federal School Code for the FAFSA is 002919.

How to Fill Out the FAFSA

How to Create Your FSA ID

  • Take Placement Tests
    • Placement assessments are tools that measure your current skills in reading, writing, math, and general computer use. Davidson-Davie uses scores from the assessments to place students in first semester classes.
  • Submit Your Transcript
    • Submit your high school (or GED) and all official college transcript to the Davidson-Davie Admissions Office. A high school diploma or GED is required for Financial Aid eligibility. You may request any needed transcript. Applicants are responsible for any transcript requested fees.

Once both the admissions application and the FAFSA have been submitted you can move on to the remaining steps for Davidson-Davie acceptance and financial aid eligibility.

If you don’t meet the Financial aid deadline for FAFSA you are still encouraged to file, as you may qualify for aid later in the semester or for the following summer session or semester. Meanwhile, you’ll need to pay out of pocket for tuition, fees and books.
