Introduction Sustainable Agriculture – HYBRID

This online course will provide students with a clear perspective on the principles, history and practices of sustainable agriculture in our local and global communities. Students will be introduced to the economic, environmental and social impacts of agriculture. .After completing this course, you should be able to:

  1.   To understand the importance of the agriculture sector in the economy.
  2.   Develop skills and strategies to achieve and maintain healthy soils and conserve water.
  3.   To examine the forestry industry in NC in a sustainable way.
  4.   Analyze integrated pest management and employ its strategies.

NO TEXTBOOK REQUIRED.   NOTE: There are 3 face-to-face meetings that everyone must attend:  January 11, March 1, April 19 from 6-9 pm.   Spring break March 6-12, 2023, no classes.  All participants will need to set up a Davidson-Davie Community College email account in order to access this course.  Instructions for setting up an email account will be emailed after registering for the class.
