This 8-week course is designed to provide instruction in the technical procedures for preparing and dispensing drugs in the hospital and retail settings under supervision of a registered pharmacist. Topics include drug packaging and labeling, out-patient dispensing, hospital dispensing procedures, controlled substance procedures, inventory control, and non-sterile compounding.
There are no off-site clinical practice hours for this course and this course cannot take the place of any curriculum course in the pharmacy tech daytime (curriculum) program.(Does not articulate) Upon completion, students should be able to perform basic supervised dispensing techniques in a variety of pharmacy settings. Successful participants can opt to sit for the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam. https://www.ptcb.org/.

IMPORTANT – Registered students must attend an in-person Moodle and book orientation on Monday, August 19th at 6pm in Smith 202 with their book/code and laptop(if available). There are no scholarships available for this course at this time.
