Davidson-Davie Trustees Attend 2023 ACCT Leadership Congress

October 24, 2023 – Tina Royal and Tonya Lanier, both trustees at Davidson-Davie Community College, recently attended the 2023 Association of Community College Trustees Leadership Congress in Las Vegas, from Oct. 9-12.

The ACCT was established in 1972 to unite board members nationwide to share values, goals, lessons and insights while fostering growth for their community college institutions. Community college trustees are able to explore information from experts in policy making, business, education leadership, current news and more. This year’s ACCT Leadership Congress brought together over 1,800 trustees, college presidents, chancellors, board staff and various leaders who are committed to uplifting students and transforming their communities by providing excellence and educational access.

Royal also represents the state of North Carolina on the ACCT State, Province, and Territory Coordinators Network for the Southern Region, which is organized in five regions across the U.S. The regional coordinators serve as the voice and face of the board for their state within their region and serve as the primary source of information for their states, provinces and territories.

“It was an honor to represent Davidson-Davie Community College at the ACCT Leadership Congress,” said Royal. “I learned so much from the experts and other trustees who are passionate about community colleges and the students we serve. I am also excited to continue my service on the ACCT Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, and help to ensure that all students have access to a quality education.”

“We are grateful for the leadership and dedication of Tina Royal and Tonya Lanier as trustees of this college,” said Davidson-Davie Community College Acting President Jenny Varner. “Their participation in the ACCT Leadership Congress is an investment in the future of our college and the students we serve. I know the new ideas and insights they gained will help us continue to provide excellence in education for our communities in Davidson and Davie counties.”
