Davidson County Community College (DCCC) will offer the DCCC Advantage Scholarship to high school students in the Career and College Promise (CCP) program who plan to continue their enrollment at DCCC after graduation.
Created to reward CCP students who demonstrate academic determination by taking college coursework in high school, the DCCC Advantage Scholarship provides eligible candidates tuition support within 12 credit hours at Davidson County Community College as full-time students after all other available grants and scholarships have been applied. The scholarship is available to all eligible students regardless of family income.
Scholarship eligibility for the 2017-2018 DCCC school year requires students to successfully complete at least two CCP classes (GPA of 2.0 or higher) and a minimum unweighted high school GPA of 2.6. Students must also complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Students seeking eligibility in subsequent years must take at least four CCP courses.
Anissa Wall, Director of High School Partnerships and Initiatives, says the program is a clear signal to the community that DCCC takes seriously its commitment to provide academic and career opportunities to future-focused students. “As the cost of higher education rises, Davidson County Community College is committed to making college affordable. The DCCC Advantage Scholarship rewards the hard work of our CCP students while helping them attain an advanced degree with as little debt as possible.”
