A Special Message to the DCCC Class of 2020 and the Entire DCCC Family
One of the challenges during these unprecedented times has been finding ways to continue celebrating accomplishments. For students, graduation is one of those milestones, and we at DCCC are committed to honoring the hard work of our graduating class of 2020. Although the 2020 Commencement Ceremony was planned as a traditional in-person event, our concern for the health and safety of our entire campus community requires that we make some changes.
A virtual ceremony will take place on the originally planned 2020 Commencement date, Friday, May 8, starting at 6:30 p.m. — you, your family, and friends will be able to watch this ceremony from your computer, phone, or any device with an internet connection. On the graduation website, you also will be able to access graduate names, photos (optional), and credentials, as well as other fun features to help celebrate this special day.
Important Details for 2020 Graduates
Mark Your Calendars: Place Friday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. on your calendars if you haven’t already.
Get Ready to Shine: (Optional) Have someone snap your photo (you can use your phone) and submit your photo to the graduation committee. We will feature graduate photos on the website as part of our virtual celebration! Submissions must be received by Wednesday, April 8, 2020.
Order Your Cap and Gown … Again: (Optional) Be aware that all cap and gown orders through the DCCC Bookstore are cancelled to avoid you being charged for items that you may no longer want due to this change. If you still wish to purchase a cap and gown as keepsakes, you can place your order again by Friday, April 10, 2020 by emailing 0623mgr@follett.com.
Celebrate Your Incredible Accomplishment: Plan to invite your family and friends to view the DCCC Commencement 2020 at www.davidsonccc.edu. The commencement website and videos will remain accessible through this summer.
(Faculty and staff, please watch for a separate message about how you can be involved in celebrating this year’s commencement.)
DCCC Commencement 2020 is planned to provide each graduate with a meaningful, memorable graduation event. Students who still want to experience an in-person graduation ceremony may register to participate in DCCC’s 2021 ceremony next May and be recognized as 2020 graduates.
As your president, I want you to know how extremely proud I am of each and every DCCC student. There are thousands of you out there right now working so hard to continue your education despite challenging circumstances. I am confident in you and your ability to overcome the unusual obstacles that face us all now. And I look forward to congratulating our 2020 graduates — from a safe distance — on May 8!
Sincerely,
Dr. Darrin Hartness
