DCCC Storm Basketball to Support Fight Against Hunger on Campus

Storm Basketball officially returns on Tuesday, November 1, at 7 p.m. in the Brinkley Gym on the Davidson Campus of Davidson County Community College. This season, tickets are $5 for the general public. Games are free for DCCC students with college ID and children five and under. Funds will go to support expanding the athletics program, assisting with travel cost for away games and championships, equipment, and other team needs.

The first regular season game opener will provide the campus and community an opportunity to help support a great cause. The college recently announced the start of a food pantry on campus that will be available for students in need. Attendees are invited to donate at least five nonperishable food items in exchange for free entry into the game. The initiative, called “Fill the Stands with Cans” is sponsored by the college’s Student Government Association. The campus food pantry will open on November 17. The college plans to use the new resource in an effort to help fight hunger on the campus.

Last season, the DCCC Storm men’s basketball team ended the season with 30-5 and a trip to New York City, NY, to play in the NJCAA Division 3 championship games. This season, with eight sophomore players and 10 first-year players, the team is expected to continue its strong record.

The 2016-2017 Storm Basketball team is comprised of the following players:
Zach Brann, Glen Campbell, Logan Coats, Markeise Crutchfield, Amir Henry, Ty Hill, Connor Jarvis, Aaron Lipscomb, Jordan Lucas, Brayden Masten, Rahman Mateen, Isaiah Penn, Jeremy Ritter, Brandon Rothrock, Demetrius Sanders, David Tripp, Dominic Williams, and Marquise Wright.

Fans of Storm athletics also have an opportunity to support the team through Storm Watchers, which includes passes to Storm athletic events, express entry into games, and additional perks.
