Kevin Firquin

Kevin Firquin has served on the board since 2014. Previously, Firquin worked with Communities in Schools at South Davidson Middle and High schools. He has served as a teacher, coach, and school administrator in the Davidson County Schools system and was twice named Davidson County Principal of the Year. He chose to serve as a Davidson-Davie trustee because he believes Davidson-Davie is a life-changing resource for personal growth in students and is a unifying force in the community. He is married to Jennifer and they have one son.

Neal Foster

Neal Foster has served on the board since 2006. He is the owner of Neal Foster and Associates, Inc. and Provident Real Estate, LLC. He has previously served as a board member for the Davie County Community Foundation and the Winston-Salem Salvation Army. Foster chose to serve as a Davidson-Davie trustee to give back to the school that changed his life as a student. He and his wife, Kim, have two sons.

Kelly Gallimore

Kelly L. Gallimore

Kelly L. Gallimore has served on the board since 2017. She works as a nurse care manager at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Gallimore currently chairs the Davidson County Republican Party and serves as the Central Region Vice President for the North Carolina Federation of Republican Women. She is committed to seeing Davidson-Davie grow because of the great education she received at the college as a student. She credits the college as integral to having a positive impact on her life and career. She is married to Eddie Gallimore.

Dr. Rita C. Haire

Dr. Rita C. Haire

Dr. Rita C. Haire has served on the board since 2021. She is the Financial Controller at A.M. Haire Manufacturing & Service Corporation, a Davidson County family-owned truck manufacturing business. Dr. Haire has served Davidson County on the Board of Elections since 2018, and also serves on the Department of Public Instruction’s N.C. Charter School Advisory Board and the Board of Directors for Parents for Educational Freedom in North Carolina. She has taught in elementary and middle schools, as well as worked as a school administrator in both public and private schools. Dr. Haire has also worked as an adjunct professor for Carolina University. Dr. Haire believes community colleges play a vital role in educating and equipping individuals for diverse occupations and industries with affordability and efficacy. She and her husband, Darrell, have three children and three grandchildren.

Donnie Holt

Donnie Holt

Donnie Holt joined the board in 2020. During his 32 years as an educator Mr. Holt served Thomasville City Schools as a teacher and coach, Lexington High School as Principal, and Lexington City Schools as the Director of Student Services. Mr. Holt believes in the power of education, the important opportunities Davidson-Davie offers, and the powerful impact the college has in our communities. Donnie is married to Carla and they have two children, Corey and Shana, and two grandchildren, Kayla and Devontae.

June Johnson

June Johnson

June Johnson joined the board in 2020. She served Davie County Schools as a career educator and volunteer. She enjoys additional volunteer opportunities through Davie Community Foundation and Alpha Delta Kappa, honorary organization of women dedicated to educational excellence. June understands the continued expansion of Davidson-Davie programs directly benefits the quality of life in our communities. Mrs. Johnson is most excited about Davidson-Davie welcoming students in the Ignite Davie, College Promise Program. She and husband, Bill, live on a farm and are parents of three and grandparents of six.

Tonya Lanier

Tonya Lanier

Tonya Lanier joined the board in 2018. She works as a paralegal for the City of Winston-Salem and currently serves on the Lexington City Council. Lanier is a local historian and has authored the book African Americans of Davidson County. She believes that Davidson-Davie offers students a great educational choice that has the power to change lives. She and her husband, Robert Freeman, have one son.

Julie Loflin

Julie Loflin

Julie Loflin joined the board in 2016. She is the Chief Operating Officer at Southern Amusements, Inc., and currently serves as a commissioner for the Town of Denton. Previously she served on the Denton EDC and STAR revitalization committee from 2003 to 2008 and the South Davidson Middle School Advisory board from 2005 to 2008. Loflin is most excited about all of the growth Davidson-Davie has experienced and will continue to experience in the future. Her strong belief in the power of higher education led her to serve as a Davidson-Davie trustee. She and her husband, Keith, have one daughter.

Tina Royal

Tina Royal

Tina Royal joined the board in 2017. She currently works as an Adult Probation and Parole Officer for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Division of Community Corrections. Royal was awarded the Governor’s Lifetime Medallion Award for Volunteer Service in 2014 and recently honored for her community involvement by the Dr. Martin Luther King Social Action Committee in Thomasville. Royal’s favorite part of Davidson-Davie is the beautiful campus and the warm feeling you receive when you step on the grounds. She believes this is due to the board’s mission to serve for the greater good of our communities and the employment of a great and giving staff.

Cathi Smith

Cathi Smith

Cathi Smith joined the board in 2022. She has been a secondary math teacher, high school Assistant Principal, high school Principal and interim Director of Secondary Education for Davidson County. She currently serves as an Adjunct Professor for High Point University. While working as an educator for Davidson County, she was honored to be named Davidson County Teacher of the Year, NC Assistant Principal of the Year and Davidson County Principal of the Year, twice. Cathi believes that Davidson-Davie provides educational experiences and programs to high school students and all members of our communities so everyone has the opportunity to reach for their goals and create the future they want for themselves and their families. Cathi and her husband Moochie (Mark) have one daughter and two granddaughters.

Dr. David Snapp

Dr. David Snapp

Dr. David W. Snapp joined the board in July 2023. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2003 with a Bachelor of Music Performance and again in 2004 with a Master of Arts in Teaching, he taught middle school, served in central office administration, and as a middle school principal. He completed his Doctor of Education from Gardner-Webb University in 2013. Dr. Snapp transitioned to a career as a financial advisor at Edward Jones in 2015, and since then, he and his branch team have built a large presence in the Thomasville community that allows them to dedicate time and resources toward charitable work. He has a passion for ensuring education for all members of the community and believes that Davidson-Davie provides opportunities for everyone to enhance their future possibilities. Dr. Snapp lives in Clemmons with his wife Melissa and their three sons.

Dr. Kevin Speight

Dr. Speight is physician anesthesiologist working for Carolina Anesthesiology PA which serves High Point Medical Center and affiliated sites. Dr. Speight earned an engineering degree from NC State University, a Doctor of Medicine from MUSC and completed an Anesthesiology Residency and an MBA from Wake Forest University. Dr Speight has served as a board member of the High Point Medical Center and the High Point Medical Society and is active in the medical community. Dr. Speight and his wife, Elizabeth, both understand the life changing power of education from their family’s personal experiences and the importance of the Community College System in NC in helping fulfill students dreams and aspirations.

Dr. William P. Steed

Dr. William “Bill” Steed joined the board in 2016. He has dedicated his career to public education, with over 33 years worth of professional experience in the North Carolina education system, most notably as Superintendent of Schools for both Davie County Schools for 13 years and Greenwood School District 50 in South Carolina for five years. Steed is committed to seeing Davidson-Davie continue to grow due to his belief in lifelong learning. He has three daughters and six granddaughters.

Ken White

Kennon A. White

Ken White joined the board in 2009. He works as a graduate faculty member and executive development coordinator at Appalachian State University. He previously served two terms as a Davie County commissioner, including time as chair and vice chair. White has also served as a trustee for Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, Davie Campus for over 15 years and district president of United Methodist Men. White’s favorite feature about Davidson-Davie is that the college’s faculty and staff live out the mission and values of the institution every day. He believes education can elevate a person’s life more than anything else. He and his wife, Anne, have four children.

Valeria Munoz Cabral

Student Government Association President

Valeria Munoz Cabral currently serves as President of the Student Government Association of Davidson-Davie Community College. She is a student in the Associate of Science program and plans to transfer to NC State to work toward her degree in Civil Engineering. Valeria is currently a member of Phi Theta Kappa, a Global Scholar, a TRIO Scholar, and the Founder of the Latin Club here at Davidson Davie. What Valeria loves about Davidson Davie is its community and openness. Valeria is excited to be SGA President and be the representative for students.
