President
Jenny Varner is the fifth president of Davidson-Davie Community College since her appointment in 2023. A Davidson County native, she has served the college for 17 years and has widespread experience in the public and nonprofit sectors, leading to a deep understanding of statewide issues and future opportunities for North Carolina and its residents.
President Varner has been at the college since 2008 and was previously vice president for external affairs and executive director of the college’s foundation. In these roles, she led the Davidson-Davie Foundation through its years of greatest growth, celebrated the college’s history and milestones including the 50th Anniversary year in 2013, and oversaw the renaming of the college from Davidson County Community College to Davidson-Davie in 2021. She regularly shares her commitment to honoring the legacy of local residents who built the college over the decades and the importance of carrying their dedication into the future.
Today, she serves on the Executive Board of NC Campus Engagement and the Executive Committee of CCID, which supports global engagement for community colleges, as well as serving on the Davie Medical Center Community Advisory Board. She completed the ElevateNC program through the Hunt Institute as part of Cohort 6, and is a past board member for the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce and Family Services of Davidson County.
President Varner is a graduate of Duke University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in public policy. Prior to coming to Davidson-Davie, she worked for U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole and for NASPA, the student affairs professional organization. As a college senior, she co-founded and later ran a nonprofit focused on student leadership.

Davidson-Davie is governed by a volunteer board of trustees. Trustees' responsibilities include establishing college policies and approving an annual budget. Trustees also serve as advocates for the college in the larger community.
The Board of Trustees meets the second Tuesday of each month except for May and December.
