Who We Are
The Student Support Services is a federally funded TRIO program granted by the U.S. Department of Education. The program provides opportunities that are aimed at enhancing students’ academic development, assists students with their academic progress, and motivates students toward successful completion of their post-secondary education.
Our Mission
The mission of the Student Support Services program is to increase the retention and graduation rates of its participants and to guide and motivate students toward their transition from one level of higher education to the next.

Year One
Each semester you will meet with your program counselor twice and complete at least two program activities, workshop, group session, cultural trip/event or a college transfer trip.
Continued Years
You will complete one of the following options each semester:
(a) Meet with your counselor once per semester and complete at least one program activity per semester.
(b) Meet with your program counselor for two counseling sessions per semester.
Counseling
Counseling sessions are a very important part of the services offered in the TRIO Student Support Services. Counseling discussions are held individually and occasionally in a group setting. Many of the program students are experiencing college life for the first time. Special efforts to encourage, inspire, and strengthen student’s academic performance is a high priority for the counseling staff. Complete an application, and ensure that you meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Pell Grant recipient
- First-generation status (neither parent has a bachelor’s degree)
- Have a documented disability
